Carlton Chapel House, Arctic Street

Corbett and Tasker are the Structural Engineers responsible for the major refurbishment and upgrade of this 1980’s concrete and masonry block of flats to EnerpPHit standards - the relevant ‘PassivHaus’ standards for retrofit projects. This original 80’s modernist building was designed by Christopher Dean Associates and was completed in 1983.

In addition to the thermal envelope of the building being upgraded, the structure was strengthened and repaired as well, to remedy extensive cracking and enable the structure to take additional loads. Airtightness test results indicated very good results: 0.4 changes of air per hour (EnerPHit require 1 change per hour). The refurbishment was completed in 2019.
