Creativity Pavilion

Corbett and Tasker worked closely with Fielden Clegg Bradley Architects and contractor Factory Settings to design the Creativity Pavilion within the listed setting of Alexandra Palace.

The structure, designed to be independent of the existing listed fabric, uses a hybrid of aluminium ‘Modtruss’ components and slender hot rolled steel columns. Steel tension cables, at high level only, are used to stabilise the frame and to allow for a flexible, open space at ground floor. A polycarbonate clerestory band wraps around at high level to flood the space with natural light, whilst a curtain can be drawn across it to plunge the space into darkness. Light and sound equipment can be suspended from a lighting rig in varied arrangements to suit the space.

The space has created a home for Alexandra Palace’s Creative Learning programme which uses the arts and history of the palace to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to develop new skills and boost their well-being.
