Walthamstow Art Studio
This project involves the conversion of a warehouse structure into a new live/work unit, including an art studio side extension.
Challenging ground conditions were overcome through the use of a mini-piled suspended slab, to enable new foundations to be sensitively co-ordinated with adjacent retained shallow foundations, the site boundary and tree roots.
The structure of the new art studio is a combination of glulam, exposed machined timber and plywood panels and a large glazed pitched roof faces north, allowing natural light into the art studio. Corbett and Tasker worked closely with Architect Anthony Carlile on this small, challenging and rewarding scheme.
