Walthamstow High Street

A mixed use development varying in scale from 3 to 5 stories comprising two distinct blocks, with a new 3 storey block future proofed to 5 stories and and 3 retrofitted stories above an existing retail unit.

The new development is hard-up against adjacent properties, one of which is listed, which resulted in close liaison with the party wall surveyor and a piled foundation design with cantilevered ground beams. 

The chosen structural solution was a lightweight steel frame with composite floors. Corbett and Tasker were the structural engineers working alongside Douglas and King Architects.
